I'm kind of considering looking into getting a FitBit. I would like to know what some users think of them and if they feel they are accurate.........
Thanks for your help:)

I love my Fitbit. I have a Zip, which doesn't have all the neat features of the Flex or One, but it is also the cheaper one. I got mine April 26 as a present from my Hubby and have yet to go a day without wearing it.
Nothing is going to be 100% accurate, but I also feel that my Zip is pretty close to accurate for my normal day to day activity. I still use my cheap Pyle HRM for some cardio workouts that it isn't well suited for.
Overall this is what has happened since I've had it:
According to the Calorie Burn vs Calories Eaten that the fitbit has recorded, I should have only lost 2.3lbs since April 26. As you can see though, I have actually lost 6.1lbs since I started using it.
edit: It has also encouraged me to get up and move more. I'm not very active person and really need to work on improving that.0 -
I considered the fitbit as well but ended up going with the bodymedia fit. I love it. It makes me move more when I see how many steps I have in for the day, etc. Plus it syncs up with myfitnesspal so I can keep logging my food this way. Over a few months period it has been very accurate as far as weight gain and loss.
I think the advantage to the fitbit is that you can probably hide it better.0 -
I have the Fitbit One and love it. The iPhone app is having some problems after the last update and now I can't sync it til I get home in the evening. Just a bit annoying, but the website and the app are both free.0

I also have the FitBit zip. Am waiting for the Flex bracelet so that I can wear it swimming, as well as track stairs and sleep, but the Zip has been an important factor in my weight loss. FitBit has been a very powerful motivator for me. After a few days of tracking my "normal" activities, I was able to set incremental goals for myself. Even on days when I'd like to be lazy, I usually get up and move about more so that I can hit my goal for the day. I wear it 24/7 (except in shower, pool, etc.). Thought I lost it once and was ready to go out and buy a new one immediately. I bought the bright pink one which helps me keep track of it (so it doesn't end up in the wash). The FitBit site is easy to use and the FitBit syncs pretty well with MFP, too. Can't say enough positive things about it!0

I don't have one but am considering getting one. I've talked to several people that love theirs. I think I read that it works with myfitnesspal. I don't have an iPhone and I'm not sure it works with Andriod smart phones. I love using a pedometer and the Fitbit seems to have even more options to it.0

I love mine! I had the original, but it went through the wash and I delayed replacing it with the newer Fitbit One. During the few months without it I just was not as active as I am when I'm wearing it. My husband gifted me a new one after Christmas.
If you are already super active maybe it won't inspire you to do more, but if you are fairly sedentary you should totally get one (as long as it doesn't stretch your finances too far, but at $100 it's a great price for what you get).
If you are curious as to accuratness there are plenty of posts about that, just do a search, but from my personal experiment wearing both my Polar HRM and the Fitbit they were within a few calories of each other and I can wear the Fitbit on my bra, hidden under my clothes. Easy-peasy!
Some cool things you can integrate with the Fitbit besides MFP: www.earnedit.com and www.beeminder.com Super fun if you like charts, graphs and geek out over personal data.0 -
I have the Ultra (wanting to upgrade to the One LOL) and LOVE IT!!!
A little about me ... I'm crazy competitive - even with myself - so it keeps me motivated. And my 7 year old daughter always asks "is your flower growing" without even realizing that she is challenging me to be more active! :flowerforyou:0 -
I have a FitBit One.
Its pretty nifty. You can use it to better gauge how many calories you burn in a day, so you dont over eat.
Its not 100% accurate, since its just a pedometer.0 -
I am on my 3rd Ultra. I lost the first one, drowned the 2nd. I love it it helps to keep me motivated to move. My button on this one has quit working and they are sending me a replacement.0

I have really had a life changing experience when I got my fitbit at a conference. I started using it, and integrating it with MFP and have since lost 26 lbs since the end of February. I love it.
I should add I have the FitBit One. I like the sleep tracking, integration with MFP, and the "flights of stairs" tracking. Better than "just a pedometer".0 -
Loveeee it! So great with helping you know how much more you need to push yourself or how much less you need to eat.0

I am addicted to my FitBit One.
I got one for my birthday in February and gave one to my wife for her birthday a couple of weeks ago. I use it for a general guide as to when I've eaten too much and not exercised enough. I maintain my food consumed in MyFitnessPal.com and synch my FitBit to it for steps and MFP to Fitbit for food.
So far, I've lost 12 pounds. It's not 100% accurate, but I use it as a tool to remind me that food eaten needs to be offset by burning calories. As long as I burn more than I eat, I lose weight.0 -
I have a Fitbit One. I love this darn little thing! It syncs with Myfitnesspal along with MANY other applications. You can sync it with Iphone or Samsung GalaxyS3 (which is what I have) I found that it is accurate as much as anything else could be. I wear mine 24x7. I have a Garmin HRM but I tend to not wear it anymore... but then again I don't eat back my calories so I just want to make sure I hit a certain number burned and if I do that then I am ok. If I burn more then I'm still ok. I love that it tracks flights of steps, sleep, calories and just regular steps as well. I recomend getting one!!! They are awesome!0

You should add me to your Fitbit Friends list. I love trying to see who can out walk who!. Moonbeamlissy1@aol.com0 -
I love my fitbit. Like others have said- it has changed my life. I have lost over 50 lbs since I got it for Christmas, and am moving now more than I have EVER in my life. Am learning that being fit is not limited to gym time.0

I have the FitBit Zip, I got it as a Christmas present but actually just started using it a couple of days ago. I love it so far. It's so motivating to see that sometimes I'm not moving as much as I think I am! It really does make you want to reach your daily step goals and burn more calories. Plus it syncs perfectly with MFP. The website and iPhone app are really pretty and fun too! The Zip doesn't have quite as many features as the other models, but honestly I don't think I'd need anything else.
The only downside I have seen is that it tends to underestimate my TDEE just a *tad* sometimes (MFP says on a sedentary day w/o exercise I burn about 1700 cals, FitBit says on those same days I only burn less than 1600. I trust MFP since that's how I've lost weight). I posted a thread about this though and other people said they'd never had that problem.
Overall I definitely recommend this product!0 -
I have the older "Ultra" and as much as I didn't think I used or cared about mine, I found that I do use it more than I expected.
But it all depends on what you expect out of it? It's a great pedometer, a useful tool to see how much movement you do in a day, guess it might help track sleeping patterns (mine would NEVER work that way). It's doesn't do that great with some types of exercise (like weight lifting - but that's what a Heart Rate Monitor is for) but all in all it's a neat "tool".
I unlinked mine from MFP when they (MFP) changed the way the FitBit recorded its info here on the site. I've read that they (MFP) have improved the tracking & method/calculation for the info from the FitBit....
I sure hope so.
I just purchased the Flex - I almost lost my Ultra 3 times this weekend and since I moved my "computer" room to the other end of the house, I only "sync" my Ultra like twice a week - I want/need more than this.
BUT This is the last "health gadget" I plan on buying - it's getting too $$$$$$$$$$0 -
Have an Ultra and love it. The tracking of stair flights is the best thing ever. It syncs up with MFP, someone said upthread that it doesn't but that's not true.0
-
All the positives you've already read are things I'd be saying too. Huge motivator, it!!!0
-
Best buy ever. Even if I can't get to MFP I know how many calories I can have and what I need to do if I need more. It;s great! and it helped me a lot by identifying that I am a lot more active at work than I thought I was (I do about 10k just AT work). I love mine!0

I have the regular fitbit. maybe it's the ONE? Actually it might be the ultra., it's just the older version. I"ve had it for way over a year. I guess I've become somewhat addicted to it. It keeps me on track. I totally bum out if for some reason I forget it.
I don't use it for sleep time. It is nice that it syncs itself and also to the MFP site. If I earn calories - it shows up on the MFP site and I don't have to do anything other than to keep track of my intake.
I have a HRM, but I never use it since I got the fitbit. I highly recommend the fitbit. little bit pricey, but worth it - at least for me.0 -
I love my Fitbit One! It is accurate to within approximately 20 calories when compared to my mfp profile. And on an active day, it gives me more calories to eat that I may not have added manually (love those days!! ).
It also brings out my competitive side, so I am always trying to beat my activity level from the day or week before.....anything that makes me more active has to be a good tool!0 -
I have had a FitBit One since Christmas and love it. It keeps me moving more than I would normally have been and, like MFP keeps me mindful of my eating habits, the FitBit keeps me mindful of my movement habits. It's pretty accurate for me.
I will disagree with one thing, though: It is an activity tracker, not just a pedometer. You can input other activities in a manner similar to that of MFP. Any activities (rather, the calories burned, etc) you input in FitBit will sync with MFP. It is also set up to track other measurements (like BP, Blood glucose levels, etc).0 -
I love mine. It helps remind me of my goals. I also tried the bodymedia and I don't like it as much0
-
I have had a Fitbit Zip since the middle of January and I love it. I also use Runkeeper to track running and walking and the Fitbit is pretty accurate. I think it was well worth the money and I would not hesitate to get another one.0

Which one is waterproof?0

My husband and I just bought ours yesterday. We got the Fitbit One. I love it! I just tested its accuracy and so far it is very, very accurate! I love the app that goes with it too. It's very motivating to see actual numbers. I highly recommend it.0

I have the fitbit one and I love it! I have had it probably 2 weeks and I learn something new every day with it. It syncs w/MFP also and is so small that I never know it's there. The silent alarm is an awesome feature also!!! Keeps from waking my BF when I get up at 4 a.m. to workout! I can't imagine not having one!0
