What should our net goals be?

I am a bit confused as to what our daily intake goals should be. For instance, this morning I went for a long run/walk which came to 1266 calories. I have consumed 690 calories so far (just had lunch) today and my daily goal is 1222 calories. At the moment, my net is in the red at -576. When people talk about eating back their exercise calories, does this mean bringing the net number back to zero? Is there a minimum healthy net we should be consuming?

You're meant to net your goal. So if my goal is 1420 and I burn 600 calories, I should eat 2020 total. However your calorie burn sounds VERY high. How did you get 1266 as your burn?0

Thanks. It was a 100 minute run at 6 mph and 40 minutes brisk walking. I just accepted the calories the app gave so of course it could have been less and I probably wasn't running at that speed the whole time ( although distance wise I did cover that). I am just not sure if we are meant to consume significantly more than our net. Apparently I have 1798 remaining. Would a deficit of more than 1000 a day be unwise?0

If you believe the exercise calories are accurate then you'd need to eat near where it says "Your Daily Goal". That's the number to try to reach.0
