What is this about.....

last Wednesday I was doing push ups. My left elbow had that feeling like it was going to pop, but it never did. I would not say there was pain, but it was annoying. I don't recall that it felt that way when I did push ups on Friday. How ever, my right knee felt that way when I was doing lunges on Friday, and it feels like that today. Again, I wouldn't say it hurts, so much as it is just a nuisance. What causes a joint to feel as though it wants to pop, but it never does? Exercise? Is it a ligament thing? I have searched and found no answers. Maybe someone else here has had a similar experience.

I have joint problems all over my body. Shoulders, ankles, knees, hips. I don't know what causes that sensation, I learned it once but I've forgotten. But I would take it as a warning. If it feels like it's 'not quite right' make a change. You might just be in a bad position. Try moving your hands to a different spot, or rotating your hands a bit. And don't lock-out your elbows, keep a tiny bit of bend in them. If you feel that way often, push-ups might just not be right for you. Or only do them several days apart.

If you hear a little clicking/popping noise when moving the joint, it might be loose cartilage.

My doctor told me it wasn't a big deal. When I went in for my physical a month or so ago he was checking out my legs and noticed that every time my knees bend there was a that noise. He told me it's probably just loose cartilage.

I guess as long as there is no pain I shouldn't worry about it. It makes it hard to work out quietly when the house is sleeping! It kind of resonates in the early hours.

I get that a lot, but always chalked it up to my RA. Are you drinking plenty of water? For me, it seems to get worse if I'm dehydrated.

It sounds to me like you need to stretch really thoroughly. Sometimes inflammation or tightness will make muscles and tendons "catch" as they move across each other. Either stretch and ice, or a good massage will probably do wonders.

Just supplement your diet with fish oil, cod liver oil omega 3,6,9 or flaxseed oil. Its like wd40 for your joints. I have similar issue on the pass but since supplements nutrition with fish oils, the problem disappeared.
    Hope this helps.

Okay, you now make the third person to mention this in a week. I went last night and got some fish oil. I plan to start it today. I plan to take it at bed time since that will give the fish taste and smell time to go away as I sleep. When you take the fish oil, how much do you take, and do you do just one dose, or do you do it in separate doses?

I usually do stretch, but I will admit, I have not been stretching as much lately.

I do get a lot of water. I make sure that I stay well hydrated. But that's good to remember for the future.

I did not have any of that with the push ups today fortunately. It was just the knee. I will take heed however, if I get any thing that is really wrong I will not let it go unchecked. I finally was able to pull something up and it said that it shouldn't be a concern unless there is swelling, inflammation, pain or weakness.
