Don't know where to start...

Let me start by saying, I have lost a lot of muscle mass over the years from inactivity. I used to be on the swim team and softball team in high school. I did kick boxing and I danced a lot for recreation. But I was strong so none of it phased me hugely. Now, 7 years after I started gaining weight, I realize how lazy I have become. I recently started doing the 100 squats a day challenge but am starting at the beginning level of 10 squats a day and will be working my way up until I can do 100 a day. Anyway other than that, I have been trying to do calf lifts, crunches and modified pushups (I can't do a true pushup just yet). But in all reality, I am out of my element. I don't know how much of anything I should be doing or if I should be working on a schedule, etc.
Any suggestions?

If you can get access to free weights, check out The New Rules of Lifting or a 5x5 program. On Bodybuilding.com the Jamie Eason LiveFit Trainer is super popular, and in the forums, there's the All Pro Beginner Routine which is good. If that's not feasible for you, get some heavy resistance bands or look at nerdfitness.com or You Are Your Own Gym for good bodyweight ideas.0
