I have had a very rough month and over the past few months, I have put on 15lbs. I am so shocked and embarrassed to have done so. I need to get this weight off but my love of food has a tendency of getting in the way. Someone please help me before my self-destructive ways get in the way of my success.
I get so mad at myself for being a binge eater and see the consequences and that leads to a depressive state.
My current state of mind is very bad....

Sorry about that...we all struggle on this journey....they are always going to be good days and bad days
You just need to forget about yesterday and think about today and tomorrow.....just push forward
You can do this.....start back logging your calories and watching what you eat again....and get some cardio in there
There are so many different types of ways to exercise in your daily activities
Dont get yourself down....just try and move forward......0 -
Well you are here so you are already taking the first steps. Now just be honest with yourself and you can do it. Maybe your post was the venting you needed to get yourself remotivated. We all have some reason or another as to why we are here. I am like you and I love food and I use that as an excuse to eat. Also when I am happy I eat, it's like I feel like I deserve it. On the other hand when I am stressed I don't eat. I have been VERY stressed the last few weeks and so it has been hard for me too. I hope you get feeling better. Exercise always gives me a 'natural' high. I feel SO good! :flowerforyou:0

Hi,
I am in no way, shape or form an expert but I think that you need to worry about figuring out what is making you eat right now instead of worrying about the pounds that you have put on from eating. Your weight is not the issue... something else is and once you find out what that is and make the neccessary changes then hopefully you wont feel the need to binge eat and you can focus on getting healthy physically.
No one said life is easy but Im sure you are a lot stronger than what you give yourself credit for so believe in yourself because no one can do it for you.
ALL THE BEST!!0 -
I'm also having a rough time. Starvation dieting has led me to binge eating... I've been completely off track the past month.
Don't worry about the weight you put on. Weight comes and goes. Keep moving forward and it'll come off.0 -
I am right there with you. I lost over a hundred lbs after my son and kept it off for a year but ever since i stopped smoking 14 weeks ago i have put on almost 16 lbs and i am beating my self really bad too. That is why i joined. i figured that being around other people who face the same struggles would help me work through it.0

I'm terrible at binge eating too.
It has taken since September 09 (this is my 2nd profile), but in the last few weeks of being on here I've finally hit a sweet spot.
First thing I had to do was set a realistic daily target. This meant for me setting between 1/2lb/week and maintenance. Anything less and I last a few days then binge. I just can't handle it. Its taken a while to figure that out though.
This is slower than going gung-ho 2lb/week 1200 cal day, BUT it is still a loss and is better than the inevitible gain.
So, if you've been restricting your diet too much from what you are used to, take it easy on yourself.
Work at a maintenance level for a bit, then once you think you can handle that, take 100-250 calories off. Do it slowly so you get used to the change and can adjust without getting into a bad headspace.
Too much, at once, can be bad for your mental health.
And when it seems hardly worth bothering for 1/2 a pound a week, just think, over 3 months you could have LOST 5lb rather than gained 15.
Second thing, was to not deprive myself of the things I like to binge on, but to assess them, find healthier alternatives where possible, and control portion size.
I love potato chips. I can't get enough, but I know how calorie-laden they are. I also know, if I don't let myself have them sometimes, eventually I'll snap and eat a whole bag or even 2, in a night. NOT GOOD!
Now I buy chips, I buy chocolate, and i buy coke, all the things I love, but I make sure the first thing I do when I get home is get out my scales, and break the packages down into portions and re-bag them in little ziplock bags or similar. It is SO easy to get 2/3 of the way through a bag of chips before one realises it. Now I know how much I'm having, and I usually find after one portion, when I really think about it, I don't feel the need to go back for another, because I KNOW that if i feel like some in another couple of days I'll be allowed to have some, yknow? I'm not telling myself that I won't eat them again!
As for healthier alternatives, I discovered rice crackers and rice chips. Just as tasty, just as crunchy, but not nearly the same amount of calories. They give me a fix.
I now buy coke in packs of cans, rather than in big bottles. Not as cheap, BUT I only have one, rather than half the bottle.
I eat chocolate most days, and have coke and chips or chip type things a couple times a week.
As for motivation, only you can give yourself that, but I hope that has given you something to consider.0 -
Thank you guys soo much!
I started my diet and exercise plan over today. I am feeling good about it! I don't feel so alone and so overwhelmed and your words of wisdom have helped me realize that it is a daily struggle and not a battle to be won overnight.
Thank you laides and good luck!!!0
