So I made this tonight for dinner and had to share.

It's in the database as Jessica's Turkey Taco Meat

1 T smart balance oil
17.6 oz jenni o lean ground turkey (that's how much it weighs after the packaging is removed)
1 sweet onion, chopped (mine weight 170g)
1 15 oz can Bush's Best black beans reduced sodium (1/4 cup juice reserved, the rest drained and rinsed)
1 14.5 oz can Red Gold Petite Diced Tomatoes
1 1/2 T chili powder
1 1/2 t cumin
1 t garlic powder
1/3 t ground corriander
1/8 t ground cinnamon
1/4 t kosher salt
1/4 cup water

1)Sautee turkey and onion in oil, drain grease.
2)Add reserved bean juice, tomatoes, water and spices. Bring to a boil for about 2-3 min.
3)Add beans and simmer about 20 min, or until sauce reduces about half.

24 1/4 cup servings (1/4 per taco)

I loooooove tacos!!! But did you put this in a taco shell or a soft wrap? If so, they add quite some calories to the meat. :(((

Recipe sounds great! I'll have to try it!

I never thought to check the weight! Now I'm gonna have to check the other brands I buy! :noway:

I'm so naughty, I loooove tacos too! I had 2 on ortega tostadas 120 cals/2, and 2 in la banderita fajitas 160 cals/2. Obviously this amount isn't typical, but it was soooo good, and I'm horrible with tacos. I had 1 t sour cream on each w/ about 1/4 cup shredded iceburg, a few drops of hot sauce and some fresh cilantro from my herb garden! Feel free to look at my food diary.

Sandara, every packaged meat you buy will have the weight of the package added to the total!! Blasphamy! what I do is just weigh the packaging after I get the meat in whatever cooking thingy I'm doing and subtract from the total.
