Sore after biking

I went on my first outdoor bikeride (about 3 miles, 30 minutes) of the season & my thighs are KILLING me! I have been exercising fairly consistantly for the last 4 months - treadmill, elliptical, stationary bike, weights. But right know I feel like I haven't used my legs in years. They hurt so bad I actually get the shakes & chills. I have never felt like this from exercise before. Any advise on how to make it feel better? I just took some painkillers. Thanks!

Lots of water. Arnica gel (pain relief topical). Self massage.

Does foam rolling work on my *kitten* too?

Also, can I get help with the massage? I'm tired of the do it yourselfers.

Yes, but you're going to want to use a tennis ball.

it will go away after a few days. happen to me the first time i took a spinning class. thought my legs were going to give out on me after i got off that bike then the next day was hell.

probably a little late to use the roller you are suppose to massage yourself right after the workout for it to be most effective.

If you can, maybe some gentle exercise to get the blood flowing? Anti-inflammatories, lots of water and some extra sleep.

I did a cycle/strength class on Sunday and I'm going oo-ow-eek-ack-erg-ugh down the stairs today (2nd day after is usually the worst for me), so I can sympathize, though mine isn't as bad as yours! It will be worth it in the end.
