Advice please from the lifters

Hi people,

Have finally gotten my head around eating more, I am now actually doing it, hopefully setting my metabolism to get back on track.

I had been eating 1000/1,200 stupid cals for years. Im now, and have been for about month 1900/2000 cals, (and am now starting to get even hungrier) and am still the same weight as when eating low cal! Amazing.

Im also lifting heavy and have stuck with it, without injury and progressing albeit slowly, but still doing so, for about 2 months now. So for about 4 weeks have obviously been maintaining on say 2000 cals. My aim, as before was trying to build a bit, without trying to put on too much fat. Legs are still bit flabbly but with clear muscle undernear. and I do have abs under there somehwere too

So my question being, shall I start upping my cals slowly? If so by how much, and also how long shall I do this bulk for?

Thanks so much x

Forgot to add that I do spin x 3 for half hour, and heavy 4/5 times per week

If you are currently maintaining on your current calories and lifting then add 500 calories a day extra for 1-2 weeks and see if you make any gains. Should be looking to gain 1lbs a week on a clean build

    Hope this helps

I would work out your TDEE using something like fat2fitradio and go from there :)

Just my opinion, but I think most people can get a lot of benefit from just eating around their maintenance level of calories and lifting. It just takes time...bulking and cutting is faster, but inevitably you're going to put on fat along with the muscle and then have to cut it again. Obviously this is necessary if you truly want to body build...but for the average joe (or Jane) out there, eating around maintenance and lifting is ultimately going to give you a nice fitness physique. That's just my $.02...I know a lot of people here on MFP are all about the bulk and cut and that's fine, but IMHO there are other ways of achieving a nice physique.
