I'm potentially considering a job opportunity in the Chicago area (I'd be moving from the Pittsburgh area). Just wondering what the opinions are of the city/surrounding areas. Things to do? Places/areas (cities) to avoid? All around good or bad place?

Thanks! :drinker:

I have lived in Chicago all my life. Love it here. Feel free to inbox any specific questions about areas you are considering or whatever. Good luck!

I love Chicago. There's so much to do! Most of my relatives live there, so I go there about once every two years or maybe even more. I've heard the south side is the "bad" side, but I'm not sure if that's true or not since I don't live there...

If you move to Chicago and your age is under 35 and single... move to Wrigley area. Young people are everywhere, restaurants, bars, socializing. The rent is not cheap. If you are wealthy, you can live Downtown, Lincoln Park, and walk everywhere. You won't need a car. But... you need money for restaurants, theater, concerts, live music, cabs. If you are in a partnership, move to the suburbs... You can find reasonably priced merchandise in all of the malls. You can find food markets for all ethnicities... You can walk, ride your bike. You can find less expensive health club facilities in the suburban parks or community colleges. If you like baseball., you have to decide if you are Cubs or Sox fan.... just sayin. :flowerforyou:
