Syntha 6/Protein Powder and meal replacement question

I use fitbit and actively exercise daily, I am also watching calories, doing -1000 calorie deficit from whatever I'm burning (fitbit calculates it for me). I got some free syntha 6 protein powder and started drinking a shake ( 1 scoop powder to 8oz soy milk or skim milk) for breakfast.
My question is, is this going to somehow inhibit my weight loss? Someone told me that if I keep drinking the protein shake, that I will actually gain weight, I just want to check if that is correct or not.
I am not trying to bulk up at all, I am active though, and I have a ton of this powder that is convenient to use for breakfast. lol.

Thanks!

Syntha 6 shouldnt be taken as a meal replacement as it is full of fast digesting carbs and protein (you will feel like youre starving 15 mins later) which will cause you to eat even more. If you want to eat something quick, try boiled eggs or almonds or non fat greek yogurt.

protein supplement not meal replacement.... only a caloric surplus will make you gain weight... protein supplements do not cause weight gain

That is weird, because I am full for a good 4-5 hours after having the syntha 6 shake in the morning. I have it around 8:30am, then lunch around 1-1:30pm. I am not hungry at all in between. I'm guessing that means my metabolism is quite slow.
