No Weight Loss Success

As someone who has always been overweight, it is super hard for things in the fitness area to appear to be "looking up." In my experience, I haven't ever seen success in the form of fitness. It has just been a way of life for me. At age 14 I weighed almost 200 pounds and that has stuck with me my entire life. I was always been the short fat kid, and honestly the future for a thinner me is still on the far horizon. To this day I am 5'5 and 254 pounds.
If you take a look at my weight loss bar, you will see 4 pounds lost and may be asking yourself why I am posting anything in the success stories category. Well let me share with you. For the longest time I have always wanted a body that someone would be excited to look at (especially myself). Even though I am a very active person, that really never happened. Through things like football, soccer, weightlifting, running, I never found myself with a body I would be proud of. I always thought that should be the primary goal, but now I have a different point of view.
I have had many doctors tell me that I am at a severe health risk with my obesity. My risk of heart attack, heightened cholesterol, diabetes, and more were all sky high and I have always been terrified of that. I decided that this wouldn't happen to me. I couldn't let that happen to my new wife, my current, or future family. I got on a few programs: Couch to 5k, and a weight lifting program. Even though things like this have never helped me loose weight in the past I had to try. I got a new job at the beginning of January after a few months of being active again and had to take a wellness test. I wasn't very excited to say the least. However, after a week of painful waiting, the doctor called me up.
My health statistics were fantastic. Every. One. Of. Them. I couldn't believe it. How could someone who is still as overweight as I am have statistics like those? Her exact words were, "many people would kill to have statistics like these." Wow. So while a beach body is still a ways off for me. I am working like hell to make it happen, but that isn't my goal. My primary goal is to be in a state of good health for my wife, my future kids, and myself. And I'll be damned if achieving that isn't success.
Don't lose hope.
