Pyle Sports HRM - Distance Question

Hey all, I'm just wondering if anyone knows how far away from the HRM watch you can be while wearing the chest strap for it to register? I'm hoping to be able to wear the chest strap while playing baseball but jewellery of any kind is not allowed so I would not be able to wear the watch, I could leave it in my ball bag on the sidelines but I'm unsure if that would be too far to register?
Anyone know? It's the Pyle PHRM38SL HRM with chest strap.
