I have reluctantly arrived :)

Hello im LJ and I joined last night inspired by a friend who is having success with using My Fitness pal. So Here I am, I see myself struggling to NOT weigh 435 lbs AGAIN! which is what i weighed back in 2004... in 9 yrs I had lost 224 lbs by completely changing my life from what i ate to how i shopped took things out of my diet ive never missed and dont ever want back I haven't bought a bag of sugar in almost 10 yrs... I dont use ANY artificial sweaters either just got used to not adding sugar lol I started eating Chicken fish and turkey no red meat cept maybe occasionally when i would eat out and that was seldom coz even then i was so used to eating chicken i generally ordered it anyway. I stopped eating can foods becoz of all the additives added to keep it fresh and NOT tasting like a can... I havent bought canned vegetables in YRS! i eat fresh or frozen and my tuna comes from the packages not from cans. i went to skim milk to cut out some fat and calories, all those little things made a big difference in my weight loss. At 1st i didnt really do much in the way of exercise... but as i lost weight i added it swimming, water aerobics, Gym, zumba etc... have changed up over the yrs... sounds GREAT Right!!!?? Well the last 4 yrs things have changed i have more people in and out of my life that i share food with, my daughter has moved back in, i have a granbaby, new husband who skinny as a rail and loves to eat! especially out to eat :( I have a full Gym in my house have had for 3 yrs barely had the energy to use it worked too many long days long hrs and watched the weight slowly start coming back in 4 yrs I have put back on 45 lbs... and i am STRUGGLING and thats an understatement!!!!! to loose it again, or stop it from coming back, i loose 12 i gain 5 i gain 10 i loose 9 its been like this for the last 2 or 3 yrs i stepped down the ladder walked away from $40,000 annual to a $10 an hr PT job so that i could find the time to exercise again and get my weight back under control... I have started working out again sometimes 2 times a day out of desperation... to lose the weight im averaging 4 times a week on my days off but the weight is still not coming off i need help .... so hear i am... I JUST CANT keep gaining... I CANT weigh 400 lbs again :(

Great job losing 224 lbs! And good for you for wanting to get a handle on it after gaining 45 back...you're still ahead and this is just a bump in the road.

The first thing to start doing is get honest with yourself about what you're eating. Weigh, measure and log everything you eat and drink, and face the facts. Next, calculate your TDEE and BMR (google for various sites to do this, try several of them because they can differ). Then you'll have an idea of how many calories you should be eating to create a deficit (somewhere between BMR and TDEE). And since you're a weight loss pro, I probably don't have to tell you but I will anyway - don't starve, it's not a race.

    Good luck!
