I've been fairly successful, with the first two weeks showing awesome results. Things have slowed a bit, but I'm more comfortable to join in discussions with others. I'm not looking for double-digit weekly weight loss like on Biggest Loser - I know I'll be more inclined to succeed in the long run by taking it off slowly. I had major back surgery last fall and decided this spring that enough was enough. I already have more energy and enjoy walking daily and going to the pool with my 8 year old son, who -unfortunately for him - looks like I did at that age. I want to stop the madness for both of us and avoid him living large as I have. I did thin out in high school, but after getting married and settling down the weight started coming on at a rate of about 5 lbs a year. At that creeping rate, it's no wonder we don't see it coming until it is out of control!

Hey Scott! Welcome to MFP, and well wishes to you and your family on your journey to better health. Just keep in mind that what you're making is life style changes. These changes take time, and patience, diligence, understanding and so on. Some changes we make will be easier than others, all you really need to do is set up a big goal, and then just work towards little mini ones. Each time you accomplish one, jump for joy and feel positively amazing about it. Ultimately you are doing this for you and you alone; followed closely by family. There maybe set backs for you and there may not be either, just smile through it all, accept what ever comes your way with a smile and remember how far you have come so far. This is a great site, I look forward to your updates. :flowerforyou:

Welcome and good luck! This place will help you stay on track. Keeping track of my food every single day and logging my weekly exercise really tells me where I'm doing good and where I need to do better. I'm in no rush to lose my weight either and am taking it slowly while learning to eat more healthy. You can do this too! :)
