What drives your weight loss? Hw did you set your goal?

I have been pondeirng this lately. I am 176 cm and weigh between 70 and 72, maybe 74 after xmas & easter
I have kept this weight for about 1 yr now which is good (I lost 15 kg between July 11 and May 12 after birth of secodn child)
Now I would really really really like to weight 68. It is a psychological thing... I "like" that number better than anything starting with a 7... but then again, who cares?
I am perfectly happy with what the shred is doing to my body, as well as my weight loss of the past month. But I wonder how I will really feel if I ever reach that 68 number.
How do you see this?

I would strongly encourage you not to get too attached to a particular number. The scale is a useful tool to measure progress, but the number it gives you - not only does that number not define your worth as a person, but it really doesn't define how fat or lean you are either. Two women of the same weight and height can look very different depending on their body fat percentage, and how they naturally carry fat. A woman in her thirties will likely look different than how she looked at the same weight aged 18, because body composition changes. Focus on how your body looks and feels (in the mirror as well as photos) and how well your clothes fit.0

i have been maintaining for over a year, and losing a little bodyfat since february..
when i first lost weight with MFP i got to 122lbs.... i am now around 133lbs but i am still as small, if not smaller than when i was 122... the numbers dont mean ANYTHING.... go with how you feel and how you look!0 -
I'm 5'6 and I'd always wanted to get under 10 stone (140 pounds) which I've now done for the first time! I'm aiming to get to 130 but realistically it might be more like 133/134. I have big hips and a big rib cage and think I'd look strange if I lost much more. Now my focus is just to get in the best shape possible rather than weight.0

I've realised numbers mean *kitten* all in the grand scheme of things, BUT, I know psychologically it's not as easy as that. Ideally I'd like to be 140lbs (10st) but the reality of that is quite slim (pun intended) because I know having been 10st before that I didn't look healthy and it wasn't easy to maintain. Therefore, I'm just going to take whatever comes my way - I've set a goal of 10st, but to be honest, providing I'm healthy, happy and am able to sustain my lifestyle, I couldn't give a toss about the numbers.0

I definitely set my goals based on where I know I feel the most physically comfortable and I'm mentally happy with how I look.
I'm 5ft 9 and my feel good range is 10st 10lb/150lb - 11st 3lb/157lb. I've always been prone to a fair bit of fluctuation so as long as I'm in that range I'm happy.
After ranging from a small UK8 (don't ask) to a large UK14, I know I'm happiest at a small UK12 and around 150-154lb.0 -

Tho i like seeing the numbers go down i tend to agree with the others above me, really that means jack **** if you still don't feel any different. The scales say i've lost 13Kg's and i can see some of tho i've seen myself every day of my life and was so use to seeing lots of overhang and i can still see that so once again while i've obviously lsot weight cause clothes i wore just months ago are way too big now but i can still see the same bulge and still feel fat.
about 18yrs ago i did a complete life change went white meat-tarian 3 days a week, strict vegetarian 3 days a week and one day nothing but fruit. and did Karate 6 nights a week (7 classes) + weekend trainings on the beach, i kept that up for 8years and was down to 13stonne. 2 below what i currently am. but it was not sustainable soon as my back gave out and i lost interest in Karate i got depressed and the weight not only all came back but i gained and extra almost 2 stonne
Time for take 2 and do it right this time, healthy nutrition but don't take things too seriously just cut out junk food, ice coffee and sugar and excess salt and do 360mins of exercise a week
Now to the question at hand, my weight loss was driven by a need to get healthy cause i was on a death spiral, diagnosed with level 2 hypertension (high blood pressure) i didn't know about that was at critical levels on the verge of a heart attack or stroke at any time and my sister-in-law lost 20Kgs in 24months and looks amazing, tho i thought she looked great even when she was alot bigger but that has alot to do with her personality..
I set my goal first to just lose as much weight as i could as fast as i could to drop my blood pressure and the other health risks in addition to getting into a upper healthy weight range for my age and height which is around 87kg's, my first goal was to break 100 which i did and my next goal is 90kg's and i'll be there in a month if i keep going as i am. Now realise thats not a "i want to look like this" it's a i want to get into a healthy range, i definately wont be a Stone Cut greek god but i'm not in it for that.
I love the regular gym sessions, not always motivated to go nuts but i like the cardio, tires me out for bed time
and thats the other bonus, i use to suffer from Sleep Apnea, Ensomnia, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and having to get up every hour to pee, and headaches for the first 2 hours of every morning those symptoms have reduced dramatically in just under 3 months.0 -
Working out with a trainer for the past 6 months has made me realize the importance of body fat %, not to be confused with BMI. BMI is calculated based on height, sex, and weight. But it does not nessarily give a true body fat percentage. I'm working toward my goal of 20% body fat. This takes a while to lose and very consistent eating and working out. I started out at 36% and with in 6 months I'm down to 28%.
I'm at the same weight I was at before my 2nd baby and I look physically very different. I have more muscle and am more toned. Good luck and stay focused on being healthy for good!!0
