Hi,
My name is Lisa, I'm 43 years old and am 5` 3" tall
About 4 months ago I was weighed at a hospital visit and nearly fell over with shock when told my weight!! I already knew that the sitting around and not exercising had taken it's toll on my weight and general non-fitness but I can't even put into words how I felt when given my weight......I just felt disgusted with myself and knew I had to do something about it. So, I changed my diet from all the crap stuff I'd been eating i.e chips, crisps. biscuits etc and started eating Natural Yoghurt, Salads, Fish, chicken and I got the KettleWorx Workout set and made a start. Well to say the first 2 weeks was difficult was an understatement but after that it began to get easier, I began to get muscle tone back in my calves, I saw my collar bone again since I can't remember when and my weight began to come down, albeit slowly.
Hubby is well into his fitness as he's ex forces so we had our garage converted into a gym and bought a brill Treadmill which I've been using every other day, running/walking from 1.2 miles - 3 miles to get started with the hope that I can achieve more weight loss, general fitness which will enable me to run at least a mile without struggling. I can currently run for 0.62mile, pace: 14 - 15 which I've been pretty impressed with for such a knackered old f*rt.
(I have previously been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and had the general aching, soreness and terrible sleep patterns etc associated with Fibro and I really have felt terrible on most days).
I'm now about 12 - 13 weeks down the line and my weight has gone from 11st 11lbs to 10st 10lbs, I'm chuffed to bits that I've lost some weight but I seem to have hit a point whereby I can't seem to shift those scales at all now and I have to say I'm feeling a bit frustrated
I do have a bad habit of forgetting to eat breakfast, I've never been a 'breakfast' type of person but did have yoghurt and fresh fruit regularly for breakfast when I was losing weight......I just need to kick myself a bit more to continue with that.
I don't eat much at all, I may remember to eat something for breakfast, possibly have something like an egg salad sandwich (Burgen sunflower and chia seeded bread, 2 slices) at lunch time and something such as a chicken breast or a haddock fishcake with salad at dinner time. If I 'snack' at all then it's always on fresh fruit, i.e apple of banana and never biscuits etc now.
Anyway, I'm hoping that by joining being able to read the forums I'll be able to get some great info and tips from all you guys and girls and I'll keep being able to give myself that kick when it's needed.

Hang in there...you sound like you are doing great!!! I am using you as my example. I need to get off my butt and move. Today will be my day for no more excuses!!!!0

best of luck you'll be great as long as you really want it for yourself!0

Tha'ts brilliant that you started with exercise, very brave keep it up0

you should be proud of yourself for doing as well as you have and not giving up. This is a pretty great community, people here seem to want everyone to genuinely succeed at getting fit.
Also props for working through the pain and not using it as an excuse. I see that far too often in my life. Love seeing an example of mental toughness.0 -
You should feel pleased, and aslong as you jsut ignore that little evil voice in your head that said meh this is too hard, you will succeed. Trust me i know what he/she can do to motivation.
We are very similar in mind set it sounds like.
Number 1 on your agenda if i can make a suggestion is the night b4 log your food for the following day and stick to it.
if you are going out for a meal then ok you work that out on the fly, but i log for instance have Cereal (x amount of grams) + milk + whatever and stick to it. So you dont have to guess on the day.
I also pre-make my breakfast if it's say a cooked meal like scrambled eggs or pancakes, and lunch for the following day and log it all there and then. I start early so it's a bonus i don't really want to be making stuff at 4:30am.
You Have to eat breakfast, it is the biggest source of energy and motabolism kicker to your day, miss that or eat very little and the rest of the day will be subpar. and the order of food consumption amounts is Breakfast (eat big), Morning Tea or Lunch each less, Dinner eat the least. and Water Water Water.
and the exercise you've already got covered, just remember to eat your carbs/proteins and water to fuel that exercise and repair/build muscle.0 -
Thanks
I've read a bit around the forum and do feel that people here are very friendly and encouraging which is great.
Unfortunately I did use the excuses of being in pain for why I didn't get up and do something previously......it's a difficult one because I actually was in pain, I just didn't want to be in more pain though.
However, I have found that the pain I used to have in my left hip has now gone completely, the 'frozen' shoulder also seems to have gone too. I still have chronic pain at the bottom of my back every day without fail but I'm really hoping this will possibly go away too in time.
I'm very lucky in the fact that Hubby has been brilliant with the encouragement, he knew that I wasn't happy with my weight but knew I had to hit a point where I was the one to do something about it. I definitely feel better and fitter than I have for a long time so fully intend to keep going :happy:0
