Runners with knee arthritis

Any recommendations of a good brace that may help with running and knee issues. I have grade II-III DJD of the left knee (per arthroscopy) and wondering if a brace will benefit and if so what kind... looking for something over the counter.

I took my doctors advice into consideration but ultimately my body needed me to stop running. I've Had Rheumatoid arthritis since I was 12 so obviously I didn't listen to my doctor and ran around a lot when I was a kid. 19 years later I have secondary osteoarthritis and when you run with osteoarthritis of the knee you lose cartilage faster and face potential surgery sooner. If you don't experience pain or swelling after you run then you are lucky. You should have the amount of cartilage in your knee assessed by x-ray. I am now facing two total knee replacements and I see many, many people who have had their knees done and I'll tell you it is not a fun experience. If you look at x-rays you can see there is about a centimeter of cartilage protecting your femur from your shin bone at the knee. If you have wear in this cartilage and you get to bone on bone from running ( knees bear the brunt of your weight when running and walking )I can tell you from experience, it is a sharp severe pain and I can barely get to the bathroom on my own. I am only 31. I understand the love of running, wind in face, outdoors, relaxing yet invigorating at the same time, but you have to weigh your joy of running against the complications of your knee arthritis, which Can become serious. I hope this helped a little. Best of luck with your knees. Cherish them whatever you decide.0

Yeah, when I started to experience it in my knees, I had to quit. It just hurt to much, and it was effecting my swimming. But from the few weeks I had been running with it, i found adding padding/insoles to the shoes helped some.
If you've had any luck with a brace, let me know! I've been interested in getting back to running.0
