I saw an article this morning about how Zoe Saldana's weight was published on the cover of Allure. It was said to be 115 lbs. I have always thought this woman to be on the rather slender side but a beautiful woman indeed. So I googled her height out of curiousity to see what her BMI said. She's a 5' 6.5" woman at 115 lbs. The BMI calculator that I used said her BMI was 18.28. She, by this calculator's standards, is "underweight". (Although I would not be the least bit surprised if this was not her actual weight and they have photoshopped her image to appear longer and thinner.)
Is it just me or is it highly sickening how the media will glamorize an unhealthy weight for models, movie stars, etc? Even when the person they are interviewing or have on the cover of their magazines DON'T ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE THAT!

I wouldn't be surprised if that was her actual weight. BMI isn't everything-- you can still be healthy at that size.0

I don't care how much another person weighs. It has no effect on my life whatsoever.0

I find it bad that the media always endorses being as thin as possible, but her as a specific example doesn't mean much. Some people are healthy at a lower weight. I'm her height and weigh 118 pounds (as of yesterday morning, anyway). Still plenty of fat and muscle on me. Definitely not unhealthy, and I'm in really good shape.0

I don't believe it is up to the media whom we choose as our role models. It is up to us. They can try to influence....but they only succeed if we allow them. I also don't give a rat's patootie what someone else weighs. I'm not striving to be like anyone other than me.0
