My measurements 34 35 34

It really frustrates me that my waist is bigger then my hips. I really want to have more if an hourglass shape, rather then a rectangle. I know that carrying weight in the stomach area is unhealthy. What type of exercises should I be doing to strengthen my core and slim my waist down. I've been doing crossfit with a group, but we mainly do squats and leg work. I'm a crossfit beginner. Sit ups don't seem to help me that much. I'm 5 foot 3 inches and about 135. My goal is to be 120. I want to be able to wear a bikini for the first time this summer but if my stomach sticks out more then my boobs, then I'd be to embarrassed to do that. Any tips or ideas please?

keep doing what you are doing while maintaining a 10% deficit from your TDEE - it takes time but your results will be amazing. Compound full body weight workouts are the most effective way to sculpt your body (but, of course, we all have genetic predisposition to deal with - but it can be overcome, I think, with proper training). I use NROLFW, but crossfit is very similar from what I understand

Hey! We're almost the same shape. I am 5'3 and 135lbs. I measure 35-31-40. I feel your pain with the thickness in the abdomen. Doesn't matter I've lost 30lbs, I can't seem to shrink my stomach and love handles at all. Good luck to you!

You cannot spot train or lose fat in certain areas by doing specific exercises. As the saying goes, "Abs are made in the kitchen". Get you diet under control and maintain a constant caloric deficit for a significant amount of time and you will get that hourglass shape. I didn't mention exercise since you said that you are already doing it.

are you naturally a rectangle shape? if so then there's no amount of loss that will turn you into an hourglass since that might not be in your genetics.

but you can do things to make yourself look like an hourglass : do exercises to work your upper back and thighs and butt. doing that will make it look like you have a smaller waist than you actually do.

There are all sorts of optical illusions you can achieve by choosing the right bikini pieces.
Some bikini stores sell tops and bottoms separately, and those stores make finding the right combo easier.
A push-up or slightly padded top, and a bottom in a bright color....try on lots of suits to find the right combo for you.

I agree that genetics does limit how much we can change our basic proportions in terms of the tape measure.
  • We all have different body shapes and can only work with what we have.
Personally I have a disproportionately large lower half and a non-existent bosom, a real pear-shape.
When I am fit I am just a smaller, less flabby pear-shape.
You have done very well to get to where you are and you should feel very proud of yourself. You are beautiful.
