HRM and Treadmill calorie comparison

I've always thought that my heart rate monitor displays a very low number when it comes to calories burned...I just got done running 2.145 miles in 20 minutes...My HRM shows 194 calories burned..My treadmill shows 324 calories..This is at no incline..How can they be so far apart..I've gone to a few sites and punched in the distance and times into calorie burned calculators..They range from 250 to 290 calories burned...I've entered all the necessary data into my heart rate monitor when I bought it..I think I've just come to the conclusion these heart rate monitors are good at determining your heart rate..But calories burned, not so good..

I always find that the cardio machines show about 100 calories more than my HRM. A girl at the gym said that she keeps her HRM turned on until it reaches 100 and then stops it to check calorie burn. Doing this, I find my HRM burn is much closer to the cardio machine number.
I've also been told that the cardio machines are incredibly inaccurate, though I've not done any research to prove it.0 -
Check what your settings are on your HRM.. Look for 'User Settings' and make sure your height and weight are accurate.. also check the settings on the treadmill. Higher weight, means more calories burned. That could be it.0
