Hi

Hi I am new to this site. I have never counted calories before, or went on any special diet before, or joined any support group like this before. But I am 53 years and menopause has thrown a big money wrench into my life. Before that I never seemed to have too much problems losing weight if I wanted to, and I always just cut back on my portions and made better choices and exercised more when I wanted to loose. But the last three or so years my weight has been bouncing up and down and gradually getting more and more. And I would start to exercise and watch what I was eating and then I would just slip back into old habits and gain it all back again and some times even more. I also found out a while ago just by chance that I have gallstones and at that time my liver was enlarged too. I didn't even know something was wrong with me, other than getting older and going through menopause. But my new doctor wanted to do some routine tests because of my age and she found it. Luckily she said she thought I could turn it around with exercise and diet change. And it worked while I was doing that, but now almost a year later I has fell back into old habits again and more weight came on, and I am having heart burn again. Which means at least that my gallstones are acting up again and maybe even my liver? I haven't been to the doctor's for almost a year either, so not really sure what is all happening. But I know I have to change and that it is going to have to be a life long change, and that there is no better time than today to do it! Luckily I just happened to come across someone else's message on Facebook about this site and decided to check it out. So I just started this last weekend and started counting calories for the first time then too, and what an eye opener that is! And yesterday I weighed myself for the first time in a week and I have already lost 4.2 Lbs. So Woo Hoo! And I don't even feel like I am starving or depriving myself either. I even let myself have half of a Klondike bar at night if I want while my boyfriend and his eight year old son both eat whole ones.
