For a friend...
Along with light cardio after leg day etc.... I take ibuprofen to help combat soreness. Mostly lower back sorness No more than 2 pills/day. But I'll take then 2-3 days in a row sometimes. The dosages aren't technically enough to risk kidney damage but is this a smart way to combat soreness as a long term thing? I've tried light cardio, protein, supplements etc.. nothing works. When you lift heavy, you get sore. But want to get rid of the soreness asap.

Shouldn't this question be better asked from a doctor instead? I mean there are many things involved with medication that might be relevant to the persons history etc.

Well perhaps, people can suggest alternatives. Or maybe someone has some studies to share on it. Who knows?

Jeff was just curious and I am a bit too, as I take anti-inflammatories most days.

When i was younger and training jiujitsu, i used to take motrin's to keep pain and aches from hindering my ability to train. All i did was hurt myself. Masking pain isn't a good thing when it's trying to tell you you're about to seriously hurt something. Just my advice.

I don't like to take any meds...so I will only do it as a last resort. I usually come home from the gym and get in a hot bath, and will use a microwaveble heating pad (not electric) on any sore areas. I've also heard that consuming more water will help alleviate the muscle soreness faster.
