Help! Always sore!

Hey everyone!
I used to work out a lot, so I'm not sure how I've forgotten the basics of soreness. I had a low back injury a few months ago, it's healed and doctor cleared for exercise, but now I'm pretty de-conditioned. I took a yoga class last Saturday and my legs are still too sore to get through even 20 minutes of elliptical. This is obviously frustrating when you're excited and ready to get back on track again. Any suggestions are great
