I always weigh my barbell on my bathroom scales before lifting, because I suck at mental arithmetic. At the end of the last workout, I used a 70lb barbell.... well my first exercise of this workout calls for a 70lb barbell, so I whacked it on the scale to check it was 70lb

it was 70lb two days ago

today it weighed 69.8lb

it's lost weight!!!! :noway: It didn't even do any exercise, it just sat on my bedroom floor. Maybe it's not eating enough.

so for all of you who base your self esteem on a number on your bathroom scale.... just don't! (and your bodyweight fluctuates a lot more than your scale's little inaccuracies...)

I knew there was a scale conspiracy! My scale is always playing with 10 pounds: one week im 10 pounds lighter the other I took it all! :grumble:

But my scale must be a girl... coz she is nice to my bf! lol :frown:

i absolutely love this thread, so true !

i always think of what people did before there was scales, cavemen (and women) didnt make a see-saw with rocks did they. The weight you are is irrelevant!

Just for interest: the entire England rugby team is morbidly obese when measure on BMI...

Don't worry, it's probably just water weight from all the sweating ... Just make sure to regulate water intake and it'll be up to target weight in no time! :-)

Maybe this is the beginning of a whoosh!

    LOL @ all the replies

they possibly saw that bigger/heavier people were stronger than smaller/lighter people. it's kind of difficult to get obese when you have to hunt and gather all your food, so heavier would have meant more muscular and better at hunting (to get enough protein to grow muscles), so bigger/heavier was probably considered more desirable.

the scale is such a ridiculous way to measure human health!!

and yes barbell maths is much harder than calculus
