I would like to know this, too. I don't know where to look. I quit using this community as I was forever lost.

Curious: Why do you want to lower it? Faster weight loss isn't necessarily better. There's more that matters than speed.

You can change your calorie goal, though, just by typing in a new one in Goals. MFP won't let you go toooo low, but it'll let women go to 1200, certainly.

If you say whether you're using web browser MFP or the phone/tablet app, I'm willing to do some screen grabs of exactly where to find it, if that would help you.

Still not endorsing the idea without more information, though. I started at 1200 plus exercise calories (age 59, F, severely hypothyroid (medicated), mostly sedentary outside of exercise, of course menopausal; still in the overweight BMI range, though already out of my obese starting point). I lost too fast (even with all the exercise calories added onto 1200 and eaten back). I felt great, until I suddenly hit a wall, became weak and fatigued. Even though I upped calories as soon as I realized, it took multiple weeks to recover normal strength and energy. No one needs that.

Let me know if you need more detailed instructions about how to change your calories in Goals, and I'll give you more details as soon as I see the post.

    Best wishes!

    Second the above, fwiw.

I started at 1470, increased to 1700 after a couple months, then to 2100 because I was losing too much. I still lost weight at that number- postmenopausal, too.

I kept meticulous food logs and now have the luxury of knowing when and how much I need. I’m 62 and 1200 would be dangerously low for me. Not to mention I’d be a foul *kitten* to be around.

Don’t fixate on some round number that’s just popped into your head. Have a reason why you feel it’s necessary and be able to nutritionally justify it to yourself.

Your body is a fine machine that needs fuel, otherwise it sputters out and loses power. Ask me how I know.
