I've long inherited a competitive spirit in myself. I see myself putting in a lot of work when it comes to making time to hit the gym etc, and challenging myself. I don't really feel that I'm challenging my diet enough, which got me thinkin....

Could I go 30 days...Eating only:

Chicken
Rice
Tuna
Wheat bread
Protein supplement
Vegetables
Oatmeal
Eggs
Fruit
Nuts

.............I look at that and wonder the kind of results I'd attain if I could stick to it- But, being that life is meant to be enjoyed, I have to add in 3 cheat meals. Not days, just meals....

What does one think....if I do this- I will log all 30 days of thoughts, feelings, frustrations.....

That a bit restrictive of a list to me . . . . I was doing the same thing for breakfast and lunch and similar dinners and found that I just wasn't seeing the results. I've since built a menu with more variety, but just as healthy, and have seen much better results and it is much more interesting, not the same old same old every day.

yeah, i've considered that. I do get really bored with food- I cheat a bit to much. But i guess that is what is intriguing me. I don't cheat at the gym, so why do I cheat on my diet? I reckon it is because I push myself harder and set my goals higher in the gym. I forget sometimes that diet is a driving force in the amount of success weighed.

I'm very motivated right now because I'm 3 months away from going home. I want to look my absolute damndest for my wife who is expecting our first child. Plus I know its going to be 100% about her while I'm back - so, im considering this fully........

You can do it. I've doing doing something similar. Except that I add soy substitutions for somethings.

I have a wonderful Broccoli salad receipe if you want it... It includes Veggie, nuts, berries and Vegganaise.

Good luck and keep us posted.

I find it is "easier" to cheat when you are bored with what you are doing. I've been following my current plan (which is a low glycemic type, similar to something a diabetic should follow) for almost 2 weeks and have seen amazing results. First time I've had a pork chop in ages . . . boy was it good . . . I find that I look forward to preparing dinner with my husband now instead of dreading that darned chicken breast dinner yet again. Now we DO still have a chicken breast 3 nights per week but I have FILLED my spice cupboard and try to do them a bit differently everytime. There are a LOT of things that are still on my 'don't go there" list but I have been a bit more creative lately and find it certainly helps as I haven't cheated once in the last 12 days I've changed this.
Good luck to you . . . and somehow I think your wife will be pretty happy to see you no matter what . . ha ha!

As far as results, I'm not so much wrapped up in results...sure that will be one of the best aspects- I'm just more curious if I have the discipline and determination to do it
