Excited about exercise

So I started MFP basically to keep track of my calories and carb intake but my boyfriends says I need to be an active part of mfp and use the message boards for encouragement and advice, so here I am, ready to learn and help others the best I can. A little about me... I am 27 years old, 5 ft 6 and weigh 182.5 lbs. Ever since having my 2nd child 9 months ago I have really disgusted myself when looking in the mirror. I kept saying I was going to lose weight and actually did well for about a month while just dieting (no exercise) but then we moved and during the whole house hunting/moving process we ate out a lot which completely messed up my diet. After going fabric shopping with my mother, who purchased some princess fabric for a customer of her, and the lady at the register asked if we were hoping for a girl while I held my then 8 month old son, I decided it was time to really do something about my weight problem. I did not like the fact that someone thought I was pregnant again. So I started slowly adjusting back into my diet, and I am doing it full force now. My sister in law has been very encouraging and suggested I try Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred since it is hard for me to get the gym or do a lot of exercise with a baby in the house. I am not on day 2 of level 1. I know that is not far, but I am very proud of making it through today even though I wasn't sure I was going to make it through the first 5 minutes today. Please feel free to add me as a friend and any advice or encouragement would be great, and I promise I will try to do the same as much as possible!

Thanks,
Jennifer

    Hello,
I know how you feel, my second child is 3 years old, and I still get the occasional: oh when are you due? i hate it...On the other hand, to make you feel better: you will definitely look better in a year even with a same weight. your baby is still young.. I never ever wrote to anyone here, or anywhere else, but I recognized your doughter's not wanting to be like you when she grows up, as my doughter said that only a few weeks ago-and I know how it feels..best of luck, and i hope we are both successful at this :)

Hi Jennifer! I am kind of new here. I have had an account for awhile and just decided to incorporate it into my life of getting healthy. I too need encouragement and a push. In the last 10 years I have gained 50+ pounds and feel absolutely horrible. I use to love health and fitness and depression got the best of me. I have beat the depression, now its time to find me again. I am so excited :) hopefully we can encourage each other and lose weight!!!

Hi, Jennylyn! What I have found that helps me is to get into a routine (for example, I get up and walk the dog, then eat breakfast) Also, I made a goal for myself: eliminate white bread, white potatoes and white rice as much as possible and stay away from fried foods. If I focus on something simple like this, I am already going to make better food choices. This helps me because I am not just doing things for the 'diet' but putting into place some structure that will help me keep weight off for good. I know that sugar is addictive to me and when I eat it, I crave more sugary things, which then affects my mood and makes me depressed. I find that reading the message board helps motivate me because I am reminded that I am not alone in this. Hope this helps, wishing you great success on achieving your goals!
