Getting a perfect balance

I've only been using this site a little over a week. I lost 3 lbs in 5 days so it's a good start, I think. However, in looking at my daily totals, I tend to always go over in certain categories....especially protein, fat & sugar. Some days it's not much, others more so, and I worry that I'm not doing this right. I absolutely HAVE to have protein or I crater, so I am trying not to obsess about that. But a small slice of lemon cake last night almost doubled my sugar allowance. Most days, I don't even use all my calories! Any tips?
