Best way to enter calories using Fitbit plus Polar HRM

Hi wondering what is the best way to enter my exercise calories using my HRM? I am not sure if I should take my fitbit off, press te button down to count exercise as an activity, just wear it and later enter my calories manually in MFP? I'm a bit confused as you can see. Anyone that can help, thanks in advance.

Looking for simple answers of what works for you. Thanks

Just log your exercise in MFP using the correct start time and the calories burned from the HRM. It will overwrite whatever calorie burn the fitbit had for that time period.

This is what I've been doing too, however I will say that the last couple of days MFP seems to send errant data to FitBit. For example, I entered my workout last night, beginning 7:35pm which lasted 1 hour 25 minutes. MFP sent that to Fitbit.com. Then about 20 minutes later sent it again as 11:35am for same duration and calorie burn with no intervention from me. Which caused Fitbit AND MFP to double count my calorie burn. It took me almost an hour of fiddling with both websites to get it to finally sync correctly. I tried deleting everything for both sites but MFP would still continue to send the 11:35am session to FitBit even after I deleted it.

I'm going to try logging my exercise on FitBit.com instead of MFP and see if that works better.
