Margarita!!

So, I make some pretty amazing margaritas. I was wondering about their nutrition facts, since typical restaurant margs are super awful for you, and found out that mine are definately on the lower end calorie wise! Thought I would share my recipe, in the spirit of the holiday weekend.

Put the following in a shaker with ice:
1 ounce tequila (1.5 if you like em strong)
1 ounce orange juice (preferably fresh from an orange or clementine)
1 ounce lime juice (preferably fresh from a lime, key lime juice works wonderfully)
2 teaspoons sugar

Shake well and pour over ice in a short glass (salted if you like)
Top off with soda water

They come in at 128 calories if you use 1 ounce of tequila and 163 with 1.5 ounces. Not bad for a treat. Pretty much have to run a mile to burn it off. Super tasty and much lighter than margs made with that nasty premade mix.

Thanks! I miss having margaritas because of the high calories. You're recipe sounds tasty! I'm looking forward to trying it. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the recipe! It's my favorite drink to order, but since I've cut back on these calories so much, I haven't taken the chance, even at home with the mix. Thanks for sharing... Glad to know I can still indulge!!! :drinker:

There's also something called skinny girl margarita which you can buy ready to go in a bottle. 4oz is 100 calories and my margarita drinking friends seem to really like it.

    I do something similar...

but I add 1/2 cup Triple Sec (adds orange flavor without the sugar)
    no added sugar
1/2 2-liter bottle of Sprite Zero (to the pitcher, obviously for on the rocks, wouldn't work for frozen) - adds the sour mix taste without calories or sugar

I bought some Margarita mix that is sugar free. It's good because its not super sweet more of a tangy taste. :) And only 10 cals per serving of the mix.
