I realize that this may sound dumb but do you have to exercise daily to see results?? I do exercise about 3 days a week and I do HIIT, but I was told that I wasn't doing enough. I have as of recently plateaued as. I do so much that I am too physically sore to do it again the next day. Any exercise advice no matter how small would really go a long way with me. Thank you all...

its all about cals in and cals out, when i was young I lost alot of weight and hardly exercised maybe once a week, however I don't think that is a healthy lifestyle.

try drinking water at least 8 glasses, if you cant exercise because you are so sore, go for a gentle walk to lossen up the muscles, try dry brushing you body gets everything moving, self massage or get someone to give you one also keep things moving.

at the mo I have sore elbows and heels, so i go on the bike and rowing machine. sadly I am not doing weigts because of the elbows, which give me extra time to do more abs

if you arm are sore work your leg or abs or what ever isn't, keep moving, little things like taking the stairs and not the lift, parking the farther away than normal, getting off te bus a stop earlier, means you get extra cal off without even trying that hard

weight and measure everything and I mean everthing, sadly my eyes see 100gm of what ever as a LOT bigger than it really is.

make sure you are measures yourself

    a quote
"The scale can't measure your will, drive, or dedication. The scale can't recount how many temptations you said no to or how many bad habits you broke. The scale doesn't have any idea how many times you got back on track when you felt like giving up. So every time you get on the scale, measure what's really important, including your drive, behaviour, and effort."

I hope this helps, message me if you need support after that is what frends are for

In terms of weight loss, absolutely not. It's about how many calories you eat versus how many calories your body burns in a day. Nothing more, nothing less.

Personally, my morning gym time sets the stage for my day's eating. I find that when I fall out of the gym routine, everything follows closely behind. So, I tend to workout 6 days a week. It also makes me sleep well and I do thoroughly enjoy it.

It's important to have rest days, especially if you are lifting weights / doing strength training. On rest days, you can still do some light exercise, but your muscles definitely need to rest between hard workouts.
  • You don't even need to exercise at all to lose weight. It only helps the process along and helps you maintain muscle while you lose fat.

So it's all about what's right for you! Calories in, calories out. As long as you're at a deficit, you'll be good.

As far as a plateau, try changing up your routine? Change your exercise plan, do a zig-zag calorie plan, just change something. :)

HIIT 3x/wk sounds good and you probably wouldn't want to venture to do HIIT more often. Being "active" every day (walking from the back of the parking lot, taking the stairs, light housecleaning, carrying in groceries, etc) certainly helps in terms of health and weight loss, but daily exercise is not necessary, as the others have pointed out.

Also, plateaus happen. They don't always mean you aren't active enough. Plateaus can happen in overtraining too (at least in my personal experience).

Thanks, I never thought of it in this way.

It depends on your goals. Weight loss is mostly calorie reduction. If you want general fitness, 3 times a week may be enough. If you want to look sleek, be strong, or have endurance and are starting from a zero level of fitness and a high level of obesity you probably have to do more.
