Not really sure what I'm doing.

I joined MFP after a long hiatus (went back to school) I actually went from about 175 down to around 165 pounds or so while being at college. Since I have come home I have decided to take up power walking, since I really don't think I am capable (in shape for) of running/jogging. I really haven't done any actual exercising in quite some time. I have also been careful of what I eat, because the places I eat at don't provide the calories. (local restaurants etc.)

I'm 6'2" and around 165 pounds. I'm not really sure if the cardio will cause me to lose even more weight. I have no idea what the healthy weight is for someone my height. I do know that my belly is squishy and I have love handles. So, should I just keep doing the cardio and watching what I eat to see what happens or should I change something up? I've heard weights are good but I'm really intimidated by them....I'm also a total weakling soooo the weights section of the gym intimidates me.

I'm not sure if this is a question or turned into me just speaking my mind. :noway:

    To lose weight, all you have to do is consume fewer calories than you burn during the day.

    Exercise increases the amount of food you can eat and still be at a deficit. However it has a whole host of other benefits, which should not be overlooked. Remember, diet makes you look good in clothes. Exercise makes you look good naked :)

    Strength training is fantastic and can really pay off long term. I suggest Stronglifts 5x5 or something like that to get going. You only start with a 45 lb bar doing 5 basic exercises. Extremely simple and highly effective.

    lol first things first, relax and take a breather brah.

    you actually have great height to build a crazyy frame if that was something youd be into. And try not to worry about the weight number too much, be aware of it but dont make it your focus...focus more on your body part measurements like your waist, arms, chest, thigh, calves etc. and focus on body fat percentage. you can be 165 at 9% b.f. and look ripped but you can also be 165% with 18% b.f. but look more blobby

    keep watching what you eat and hit all your MFP macros for your goals. i think as intimidating as it may sound, incorporate some weight lifting. Trust me, no one really cares how much you lift in the gym, everyone started somewhere. like the guy above me mentioned try a 5x5 routine using the bar and moving up weight with each workout...its great for noobs (no offense) ill link the routine, you dont have to do that specific one but its a good idea of what you can start with. in time after you get stronger and get the hang of it you can go to a more intermediate type routine but ill talk about that in a later time.
