more or less active days

So from the response I got earlier, I seem to have sorted out TDEE and all that jazz.
Now I'm wondering what do most people do, eat TDEE and not eat back exercise calories (if you go over - right now I'm lightly active, but I'm going to try to bump up my levels a bit), or do people find that eating their BMR and then they eat their exercise calories back works better?
What are people's results with either of these strategies?

I set my activity level as close as possible to what matched, took 20% off my TDEE and ate to that goal every day, exercise or not. Some days I went over, some days I was a bit under, but always close to goal. Basically I stayed between BMR and TDEE, and had my best success with losing the fat since doing so (just about a year ago now). I don't eat back exercise cals, they are figured into my activity level - however I will eat more if I find that I'm netting below my BMR, if I had an unusually high burn due to a longer run or workout. Usually not a problem though.0
