Mixing it up!

Although I'm new to this site, I'm not new to fitness and exercising. Problem is, I tend to do mostly running and walking and believe that my body is so used to doing this that it's so much harder to burn the cals off! What other stuff do you folks do when you want to mix it up a bit and shock the body into metabolizing faster. Please don't suggest the gym as it is my pet hate!

Resistance Training
You don't need a gym. You might need a few weights though. And there are videos and websites about home workouts. And a great resource at bodybuilding.com with articles about programs, cardio, etc. http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/bbmaintrain.htm
But if you can build some lean muscle (which helps burn calories), burn some bodyfat that running can't touch, then you may find your body will respond accordingly.0
