Two day conference - help with game plan

Hi all,

Kinda new here, and I have an issue with which I could use some advice. Next week I will attend a two day international conference which my office is hosting. Lots of fun and exciting career-wise, but it's going to be very difficult to stay on track with regards to diet, as they are full day events (with parties).

So I need help with my game plan. It's going to be two lunches and two dinners, and I think the lunches will be sandwiches, which is fine, but it's the dinners I am worried about. Plus all the conference-food canapes and things that will be laying about.

I also won't be able to avoid alcohol completely, (mainly because I am of the age where people will then automatically assume you are pregnant, and this is something I don't want my bosses to think) but I am planning to limit my intake. Aiming at having a maximum of 2 drinks, and maximum 4 over an entire evening. Drinks will be wine, or champagne.

I think I will make a green smoothie of about 300 cals for breakfast both days, and try to work out before work at least on the thursday. For lunch I will try to pick wholegrain sandwiches, hopefully there will be lean protein choices available. But for dinner it gets tricky, as I won't really get a choice...

I am thinking of mostly trying to skip the carbs (will have had them from sandwich anyways) as these tend to bulk up the calories most. Would that work? Also am going to try very hard to only have a little of the desert, but with a sit-down dinner and a large group I don't want to stand out by not ordering. So hope to get away with just skipping the carbs. Also will try and be really clean and have a good deficit with my eating before and after the conference, to compensate.

Does anyone have any tips for me with this? Suggestions would be very much appreciated, also for breakfast!! Maybe I could go lower than 300 cals, but I do want to be filled up enough so I have the willpower to stay away from all the unhealthy snacks..

Are the dinners plated or buffet? Plated would make it easier for you because of the built in portion control. A buffet should have enough choices/variety that would allow you to make good choices.

The first one will certainly be plated, the second one I am not sure; that's the "gala dinner", but i am guessing it will be sit down, so plated, as well. If there is a buffet, that would certainly make it easier! But I think I will have limited influence in what will be placed in front of me :)
