Hilton Head Health/Biggest Loser/Weight Loss Retreats

I am looking into using my vacation this year at a fitness/health resort. Have any of you been to one that you recommend (or don't recommend) ???

I looked into the Biggest Loser Resorts and the Hilton Head Health.

Thanks!

going to a health resort sounds like one of the worst things i can think of for a holiday destination!! go sit on a beech somewhere, drink and eat your weight in food and alcohol and have a good time!!!

    "all in moderation" :P

Well that doesn't look like a vacation at all

And the sample menus are run of the mill with food you can basically get anywhere, nothing special there

    For breakfast

    "S e r v e y o u r s e l f u p t o :
    3 0 0 C a l o r i e s a n d 5 f a t g r a m s"

Im interested in what other people have to say about this. It is something I have been thinking about doing also. I think it would be fun if they let you vacation a bit but also provide different fitness classes you could take etc.

This is actually a pretty bad idea for long term weight loss

Going into a structured facility where your entire day revolves around working out and losing weight is going to teach you nothing about how to eat healthy and get active when you are living a normal life full of distractions, work, stress, celebrations and other people.

You can quickly slip back into old habits because the habits you gained at the health spa/camp/whatever don't work in the context of your normal life.

Teaching yourself how to eat and making small changes to your existing life form habits that will last.

Adventure trips are great. I've taken several and always lose weight on the trips without trying. They're fun and you meet interesting people.
