motivation

i've been at this for almost 4 months now, and the last 2 weeks have been a little harder than usual.
i just find counting calories so daunting, and wishing i could just eat what i want and not worry about it.

i'm a little worried because i don't wan't to fail. but i'm keeping with it. today i feel a little better and a little more motivated.

when did your motivation dwindle? and how'd you get through it? did you experience this a lot during your weight loss journey?

I lost my motivation about 5 months after I started cal counting last year. Summer got really hectic, so from June 2012 on I'd pretty much stopped. I'd log, skip, start again trying to stay consistent, etc but couldn't maintain the logging anymore. Was just tired of counting and wanted to eat whatever and be 'normal.'

My motivation picked up when I started strengthening a little for an injury. Pretty much maintained weight during that time, probably because of the strengthening I was doing. Found a lot of inspirational fitness quotes and started believing in them. Added friends on MFP and started participating on the msg boards and was back to counting in October 2012 and have been back ever since.

MFP friends seem to help the most. That being said, sometimes we all just need a break.

I've been losing motivation for about the last week since I've been having a hard time sticking to the recommended daily calorie limit set my MFP. I was thinking of raising it up to 1400 and throwing in some new exercises. I figure this is a good time to try something new to try to get back on track.
  • So maybe check out a site like fattofit , get your daily intake from their calculators and stress a little less with the whole calorie count thing. I've personally found calorie counting opened up my eyes about what and how I was overeating but once you start it can kinda take over and get a bit obsessional. Think once you know IF, WHY and HOW you overeating, keep it simple, reduce intake sensibly and do more, just stay healthy with it.

i just checked it out. they said i should be eating around 1890 calories per day, which seems way too high haha.
yeah, counting calories has helped, and i'm definitely not ready to stop. i just find my motivation had sucked lately. i thought it would have become like a lifestyle by now.
