Well, I've lost almost 70 pounds lifting heavy each time (3-4 days a week) and I'm doing the opposite of bulking up, so I think you're good0

Ive lost 5 inches in one month lifting Im smaller and lifting as much as I can? and yes take a rest day after lifting, its when your muscles build from what Im told?0 -
On a serious note ...
I added lifting (Stronglifts) to my exercise plan because lifting not only adds muscle to your body but it also strengthens your bones. That can prevent osteoporosis and other bone related issues down the track.
Plus it feels damned good!
When girls worry about lifting and getting bulky I tell them "look, even if you did get bulky quick while lifting, you can just stop lifting once you get too big. You start losing muscle very soon after you stop your programme."0
