My name is Becky. I am 50 yrs. old and weigh 229 lbs. I am very much out of shape, & not active much at all. But I want to change that. I want my life back. This is the heaviest I been all my life. Back in 1992, I weighed 210 lbs. when I went on a strict diet eating no more than 1200 calories a day & exercised 7 days a week. During a 18 month period I lost 95 lbs. I kept the weight off for a while, till I got off track after we remodeled our home & developed a habit of eating out a lot. After I slowly started gaining my weight back, I really got off track of being fit & exercising after the birth of my first grandchild, because I kept her a lot while her mom worked. After the birth of my 2nd grandchild, I began to get back in shape a little, I did exercise regularly, but didn't eat right, so I lost little. After the birth of my 3rd grandchild, I just lost track of trying to exercise & eat right, started eating out more & more because kids were moved out.
Update: Now I am at my heaviest at 229 lbs, and having trouble with my hips & legs. I have hip bursitis, & plantar facitistis.
My blood pressure is ok, my weight has not affected it yet, but I would like to lose weight to look better, to feel better, & be healthy, & reduce my hip & leg & foot problems.
I have lots of exercise equipment, I just have not been using it, I been lazy. I have no excuse to not exercise. I have a Elliptical machine, a bun and thigh rocker machine, a gazelle machine, magic leg machine, & a weight bench with barbell & different weight, sever sets of dumbbells different sizes, lots of workout dvd's.
I have a Nutribullet blender to make healthy smoothies from fruits & vegetables. I need to lose weight, because my hip & legs is killing me. I work 4 hr. days at school cafeteria. I need support.

Becky,
Welcome to MFP. Made a decision to take my life back just before my fiftieth birthday last October. Most of it has been a lifestyle change moving away from processed foods and making healthy food choices. I started that journey really in the last week of October when I was away on business in Europe for nearly three months. Since then I have lost nearly 35 lbs. Please feel free to add me as a friend... Every journey begins with one step.
You will find a lot of people who have decided to take their lives back here and with them you will also find a lot of support from people who at one point had as much weight to loose as you do. Keep smiling be positive and I am happy for you that you have decided to take this very first step.
