Can someone recommend firm/extra-firm shapewear?

Well, as the title says, I'm in the market for some shapewear. I currently own two Spanx Cognito Mid-Thigh Body shapers (in 3X), and they are pretty good at pulling in my *gasp* rolls of fat and smoothing things out. They do roll down in the back though, and it can be a laborious task to go to the restroom. Now here comes my current issue...which I'm sure many people will be puzzled by.
I need a good, extra firm type shapewear to wear...under a swimsuit. Yes, I know they make body shaper swimsuits now. All of those with the level of control I need are way too expensive for a suit I'll only use for one weekend. I intend to wear the swimsuit during my friend's bachelorette trip to Destin--and this is probably the only time I'll be near a pool in the foreseeable future. Therefore, I would much prefer to invest in more good shapewear to wear underneath a cheaper bathing suit. Yes, I know the chlorine from a pool isn't that great for spandex type materials, but as I said it's only for one weekend. I doubt it would ruin the shapewear that fast...would it? I can't find anywhere how long it takes for chlorine to affect shapewear, though I did discover there are different grades of spandex which have different chlorine resistances.
The shapewear (Spanx Cognito) I have now won't really work beneath a bathing suit because of the thigh coverage. I'm not sure yet exactly what type of swimsuit I will get, but it will probably be a swimshort/swimskirt and swimtank type deal. Can anyone suggest some good shapewear to suit these needs? I was thinking a waist cincher plus a control panty--two pieces seems easier to visit the restroom in. A high waisted panty could work as well as long as it wasn't bad about rolling. Since I don't know what type of straps the bathing suit will have, I would rather not have the kind that have shoulder straps.
Anyway, I didn't know where else to ask for advice. I've literally spent hours looking at different brands and lines online, and I can't make a decision without knowing how well they really work (no place around here to go and try any on). Does anyone know from experience of good brands and lines that are affordable and that smooth the stomach rolls well while staying in place? Or anyone have other suggestions?
Thanks for taking the time to read this ridiculously long post! I appreciate any input.

Hi! Just joined this site and first time posting! Joined on the recommendation of my sister and really like what I see so far.
Aya - I use the Sculptz shapewear from Silkies (www.silkies.com) and it has worked out really well for me. The prices are very good and I think the quality and shaping ability is comparable to Spanx. Check out the site and hopefully you'll find something that works for you.0 -
If there's a Walmart/Kmart/Target type store near you I'd recommend checking out their shapewear and swim suits. The shapewear won't be super great, but if it's ruined it won't be a hardship either.0
