Strength training-- where do I start?

I've mainly stuck to cardio, but I've been hearing more and more about strength training and how it'll boost fat burn, I'll gain muscle/ become more toned, and best of all, I'll be strong!
Now the problem I have is... I don't know where to start. What does strength training actually involve? Can I do it at home as I don't have time to go to the gym working two jobs? Do I need weights? How often do I need to do it? What are some of the "moves"? Ahhh help!
I'm sure I could google this, but I figured I'd turn to the MFP community first since I know a lot of you have experience with it and maybe you've even been in my shoes before. Anything you have- articles that have helped you, your favorite YouTube videos... anything!- will be a great help.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to read!

Hey Amy,
First thing you need to do research. A lot of research. Set a day aside to read about basic info about strength training. Join this group here on MFP - the people are really knowledgable and helpful.

You can do it at home, dont have to start right away in a gym if you cant find the time. Weights would be helpful - simple dumbbell sets with adjustable weights.
From what I know, you could start of with 1 set of exercises for a full-body workout - meaning every muscle is worked on. And you can do it at least 2-3 times a week, just to start off.
FORM IS IMPORTANT - VERY IMPORTANT !!! for EVERY exercise. check out some youtube videos, and learn about correct form for each exercise.
And JOIN that group and spend as much time as possible reading and researching. ALL THE BEST !I've mainly stuck to cardio, but I've been hearing more and more about strength training and how it'll boost fat burn, I'll gain muscle and become more toned, and best of all, I'll be strong!
