I have just come back from 5 days in center parcs, in these 5 days i didnt eat well but in no way pigged out! Over the 5 days i did constant riding and swimming and had other active activivties over the days and i gained 3 pounds!
Somebody tell me its cause of muscle gain and not fat cause im pretty disheartened by it i thought i would really up my loss from that week.

I'd say neither. You'd have to be eating a LOT to actually gain 3lbs of anything. It could be a number of other things, but it's impossible to gain 3lbs of muscle in 5 days and unlikely to gain that much fat in that amount of time either. In any case, it's only 3lbs. It's probably water weight or something of that sort. Just get back on track, drink lots of water, and it'll be gone again soon.0

Probably water if anything.0

It's fat
Just kidding, probably water weight. The above poster is correct, you can't gain legit pounds of muscle that fast. Just doesn't happen.0 -

.... it's water.
or maybe you need to take a dump.
but it's, no - seriously, it's water.0 -
Neither. I'd say it's water weight / bloat.
You wouldn't have gained that much muscle in 5 days, and unless you went waaaaayyyy over into a surplus (pretty hard if you did a lot of exercise!), you wouldn't have gained 3lbs of fat either!0 -
thats good too know thanks, what makes water weight happen? was it the body reacting to a solid 5 days of cardio?
ive never experianced water weight problems before (well in this diet anyhows)0 -

5 solid days of working out is going to cause water retention.0 -
No to muscle. No chance. Unless you are a freak of nature? lol Prob just water weight like the others have said. Just get back on track, avoid the scales for a few days.0

Intense exercise can cause temporary water retention. So can a lot of sodium, if you had particularly salty foods.
Give it a few days, it'll be gone0 -
Update i weighed myself today and its down to a 1.5lb gain, how long does water weight take go cause again after a week of solid cardio and excersise its pretty disheartening to have a gain0

a week of solid cardio and excersise
that's what's causing it.
Either keep up the exercise and get stronger/faster/healthier and burn fat, or stop the exercise for sake of a 1.5 loss of water.
It'll go away or you'll acclimate to it. Besides, you can fluctuate a few pounds per day on average. Honestly, stop weighing daily and you won't freak out as much over the daily shift.0 -
i dont weigh daily monday mornings are my weigh day and i did it sat just to see what going away did, im not giving up its just after all that to come away with a gain is annoying and ive never experianced water weight before so i dont know how to cope with it.0
