Hi! My name is Michelle, I'm 40 yoa, currently 300 lbs, 5'7, and recently became a raw vegan again. I was 100% raw vegan for 4 mos last year and lost 50lbs during that time but after a death in the family I went back to eating all of the nasty cooked processed food and gained most of the weight back eating unhealthy.

I have started my raw vegan journey again and am 80% raw vegan at this time. My motivations for becoming raw vegan was not solely because of my love for animals....I still drool over a well bbq'd steak. I choose this lifestyle path as I felt clean eating was for me, I had dramatically noticeable improvements to my health and emotional health, my skin was glowing with youth and vitality and I had the energy that I haven't had since I was a teenager. I am again looking to gain that back. My transition back into raw veganism has been harder this time and that is why I am looking to hook up with other raw vegans or people who are new to raw veganism.

Thanks to MFP as I have lost almost 5 lbs in a week while transitioning back, and MFP helps keep me accountable! Cheers MFP for the great app and the community you have built!

Hi Michelle, take a look at the "groups" feature and search for "vegan" under the groups tab. There are several vegan/raw groups available. Not sure if it will work from the app, you may have to use the website. Good luck!

    HI MIchelle

I am mostly raw - not vegan but i wouls ay 90% raw. I do eat some small amounts of fish if it is infront of me but other than that is a fruit and vege diet. I am celiac so no gluten. I dont eat dairy except keifer (probiotic) yogurt.

I am less concerned with vegan and raw than i am with eating clean - i refuse anything which has come from a pacaket - i would rather eat a piece of lean steak than use a salad dressing from a packet - i think you get the picure.

in my experience the conentration on the whole, cleane foods has been more in=mportant than the raw or vegan thing - so perhaps you dont have to give up your steaks???

The only catch ther eis that they are alot more callories that a carrot and cucumber!!!

feel free to add me, or message me for any help! im mont perfect but i do my best everyday to feel as good as i can.

Hi, I'm mostly raw vegan. I have been vegetarian since birth so it wasn't that big a stretch for me. I have nothing against meat, fish or poultry, even though I have never tried them. I completely agree with the poster that said the unprocessed whole foods part is way more important than the no-meat part. I actually gained weight when I first went raw (all those nuts!!), but have learned how to make it work, so if you need tips and tricks on how to do that, I can probably help you out. Also, I highly recommend reading "Thrive" by Brendan Brazier, it will really help you understand how to make being (mostly) raw vegan work from a nutritional standpoint.
