Confused...

Morning everyone!
Hope you had a great weekend
I am on a 1900 calorie diet and have been until mid week last week until I felt faint on Wednesday and was told that I need to up my calories with the burn I am putting up. I am really really confused because if I follow what everyone is telling me meaning:
If I eat 1900 and burn 1000 then I have only taken in 900 calories
then that means I need to up my calories to at least 2200 so I stay at 1200 right? It is really really hard for me to eat that 2200 calories. I know, I know it sounds kinda hard to believe because I am here for eating way too many calories in the first place but now am used to smaller meals and since Thursday cannot get over 2000 calories at most. I want to lose 2 lbs. a week so if my caloric intake is wrong then let me know. I am 235 lbs., 5'6" and work out 6 days a week. What to do? I don't want to let up on working out because I love the toning and sweating.
Thanks for your help! :flowerforyou:

Hiya!!
I think your best option is to lower your workout schedule. If you think about it your better off eating healthy instead of worry about how often you get to the gym. Even miss 1 extra day or lower the amount of cardio you do in the gym this should bring your calories down. Hope this helps!!0 -
I think lowering your cardio might be the answer, at least until you drop some more weight. Then you can adjust your caloric intake and increase your cardio.0

I agree with the above posters; if you can't eat that much, then lower your cardio workouts so you don't have to eat as much. As you drop weight, you won't need to eat as many calories so then you can adjust your cardio accordingly.0

Your math is correct, and you would have to eat an extra 300 cals. I agree with those who have suggested lightening up on your workouts...if you are burning 1000 cals per day from workouts alone then that is some intense exercise! I think you can still stick to your 6 days a week, just shorten the time or lower the intensity a tad. It's great that you have gotten into the routine of daily fitness, and if you can keep that going then it'll be better for you in the long run. Don't forget to stay hydrated, and make sure everything you're putting into your body is high quality, healthy food. Good luck to you!0

First of all - who told you to eat more? Unless it's a doctor, I might think twice. Or at least consider other options. There are lots of reasons you could feel faint...
What time of day do you work out - before eating? Are you drinking enough water? Also I see that you are eating approx 2000 calories... I honestly think the "net" rule is a little off - I always am under the impression if you eat minimum without taking into account excersize you will not go into starvation mode. After all, it is supposed to be the number you would need if you lay in bed all day nto moving... my two cents but maybe talk with a doctor. I see you had almost 100 pounds to lose, 1000 calorie deficit doesn't seem too unreasonable.0 -
Once you get the "exercise bug" it is hard to let up as you are probably secretly afraid of becoming a couch potato again . . . however you will need to make some compromise. Either get in some extra calories or lay off the intense cardio a bit. A good way to get in those extra few hundred calories is to wrap your lunch or dinner protein in a tortilla . . . they are typically a few hundred calories and if you get the wheat version you are getting in that extra complex card to offset all that cardio.
You likely need to just make a minor "tweak" or two to find that perfect balance for yourself!
Keep up that good work!0 -
Thanks everyone! Yeah see I was doing great up to last week when I upped my calories and now this week no weight loss  Its all so confusing but will try to continue for another week and see how it goes.0

No, that's not what it means. If you eat 1900 and burn off 1000, yes, you've only eaten 900 because you just burned off 1000. Don't necessarily increase your calories. Just eat your exercise calories. Spread them out throughout the day and you should be fine.
I'd also like to say that you may be overestimating your exercise or underestimating your food.0
