Anyone ever have their nostalgic memories shattered?

The other day I was searching for random people I knew in high school some 15 years ago and came across my biggest high school love, we went out for about 2 1/2 years and in the end I broke it off pretty badly just before turning 18 and finishing school.. he hadnt been as attentive for a while and I was suspicious. Turned out he just had alot on his mind as it was a big time for us finishing school, pressure from his parents to decide on a career etc.

It was weird seeing his name there and he had no pictures on his profile.. so I contacted him to say hey. He wrote back said how he never forgot me and still drives past my parents home where I lived at the time once a year or so with hopes that he might see me there one day, how he has so many regrets etc etc.. I was abit shocked. Now I am married and he is married, none of that matters because Im not going anywhere but its fun reliving those memories in your head.

Then he sent a current picture of himself - and isnt it strange how people become so 'normal'.. I mean he's not bad looking now but it completely shatter my 'dreamy' memory of the skater boy with long golden blond hair and a tan lol... now he's very much a dad and looks like one too!!! HAHA kinda sad

I'm becoming less and less nostalgic. That **** is PAST for a reason.

Though I must say this post does remind me of one of my friends. Though she's even more badass now. Wish we could hang out but it would be a dirty mess if we did (of the truly awesome kind), and her husband seems like a cool guy so it aint' happening

I thank God I look so good and I aint tied down w/all those kids and a husband that I'd prolly hate by now anyway.

My "first" just got married.. it always bothers me who and who doesn't invite you to their weddings.. my best friend growing up in NJ, close friends here, I know most people do small weddings these days but... the people I'd invite definitely has changed.

This has happened to me more than once. I moved away from my hometown in my twenties and have only gone back a few times since. It is very depressing to see some of my old friends and boyfriends (who I remember as being young and gorgeous and healthy) now parents, grandparents even! Worse there are some that are very unhealthy... heavy smokers, drinkers, or heavily into drugs. :brokenheart: My best friend fell into meth addiction and went from this pretty bubbly 19 year old girl to a skinny wreck.

That's why you live here and now! Nostalgia is just that, memories, leave them there and make new ones everyday!

Does she walk, does she talk, does she come complete
My home-brew, home-room angel, just pulled me to my feet
She was pure like snowflakes, no one could ever stain
The memory of my angel could never cause me pain
The years go by I’m looking through a girly magazine
And there’s my homegrown angel on the pages in between

No, I haven't had any memories shattered. It hasn't been that long since high school, but there are some people I see now, namely the girls that were mean to me back then, and I realize that most of them peaked in high school.

Yeah Now And Then I Ge Sad When I Go Certain Places And Think About Why It Ended. My First Bf And How We Were So Young But Were Happy But We Just Weren't Meant To Be. I AM Happy Now BuT Memories Can Hit Once In Awhile. And I Love Seeing High School Girls Not Doing much Because They Used To Think They Were Better Than Everyone Else.I Think I Just See Us All As Equal Now When I Used To FeEl Less Than Others. I Haven't Touched My High School Doors Since I Graduated. Now That Would Be Weird!

I was a pretty hot topic my junior and senior year, so I get a lot of looks when I come around. Definitely don't miss anyone from highschool though

Haha, this dude in college got tipped off about his ex girlfriend that he always talked about soo highly being in a amateur gangbang porno. Needless to say the jokes didn't stop until the end of freshman year.

I'll never forget when I was a teenager and just moved to my fifth school my mother discovered "Web TV" she thought it would be a way to socialize, she played with it for a few weeks and got bored.So... I started using it. I had a pretty rough time in high school mostly because I was 15 almost 16 and it was a small town. I am not sure how many people even know what a "Web TV" is hahaha. Anyway I started frequenting a chat room based off of RPG's and really got into the whole online gaming thing. There was someone on there that, though he was much older, always struck me as a really cool person. He said he was 23 and I always use to pick on him and say "Nobody likes you when you're 23" (Guess that lyric!) I had a girl crush on him, but never said anything because... he was 23,

In 2009 this guy contacted me and admitted he had a crush on me years prior and how he lied about his age because he was 1 almost 2 years younger then me and didn't want to seem silly or make me think he was childish. Sadly had he been honest with his age I would've told him years ago that I thought he was a great person. When he contacted me I was already with the same guy I am with now (Who is ironically two years younger) and he said he just had to be honest and felt foolish for lying. He never wrote again, and though we are friends on facebook aside from a comment on pics of my kids or liking a photo here and there he hasn't said anything. It's funny how sometimes the lies we tell to make ourselves look better actually work against us.

    That's why I don't do it.

If I had a large green penis growing out of my side I would tell people.
