Exercising...ALONE!

I am really struggling with exercising. I just am not motivated, or maybe I have too many excuses. But I have not been successful in just MAKING myself do it. When DH is around (working locally) we will ride bikes or walk and for awhile we did P90X together. But he now works out of town, so it's all up to me. I like taking classes (zumba, kickboxing, etc.) because there are other people. But it seems silly when I have plenty of DVD's, treadmill, bike and the weather is nice to walk/jog outside. Plus, DH doesn't want me to spend the money on classes/gym. I know that a lot of people use their workout time as their "alone" time to collect their thoughts. But I am alone all the time (not counting work). DH does come home Thurs-Sun. I just need buddies or accountability to someone...or something to get me going.

I am having a hard time myself lately. I have made some 5K goals and I still cant seem to "find the time" to get my butt out and exercise. I would love to help you account for exercise as I myself need that as well!!

I too used to struggle with getting my butt out to exercise. It was all too easy to have all the right excuses and then I'd find myself at the end of the week, not having done anything. I don't know if this will work for anyone else, but I finally just told myself to, "SHUT UP AND GO EXERCISE." Anytime an excuse would come to mind, legitimate or not, I would repeat that phrase over and over until it would finally push me out the door. Then I wouldn't have to hear it until the next day. Now, I have made it such a habit to be moving towards exercise first thing in the morning that my feet move automatically. If I thought I actually had a choice to exercise or not, I am sure I would choose not to.

Also, in the beginning, I started marking on my calendar the days I actually got my exercise in. By the end of two weeks, I would see all the days that had smiley faces on them - and I felt really proud. Maybe a calendar tracking would be helpful for you?

Best of luck and if you hear me mumbling to myself, I'm just pushing myself to the gym...
