I am going to start a weight lifting workout mon-wed-fri with tue/thur/sat my cardio days. What would be the best method for weight loss I have read about the 5x5 and the 10x3 I know you don't have to really work out every single muscle for muscle growth My plan is to follow either the 5x5 or 10x3 for a couple weeks then add some more to my routine. Just wanted to know some others thoughts on these two programs. I have been reading menshealth forums but just not enough people on those forums. Any advice be great signing up today.

if you're going to the gym 5 or more days a week do weights followed by cardio each day. Just be sure to work out muscle groups that don't use the same muscles from day to day. You'll be way more effective at losing weight.

I really don't think any specific weightlifting program is more effective for fat loss, because honestly the fat loss is from calorie deficit. While the weightlifting does contribute to that deficit, the main point is that you DO IT, not so much what program you chose. In a calorie deficit you really aren't going to build any appreciable muscle mass and also the amount of calorie burn from weightlifting is highly variable. So look at the programs and pick the one you think you can do an stick with. The one that fits into your time constraints, and the one whose rules make sense for you to follow. Think about things like how many exercises you will be doing, what equipment you need, do you have any medical issues that limit your activities, how fast are you supposed to add weight to the exercise, what do you do if you fail at that weight. That sort of thing.
