Does High Heartrate Always Mean High Calorie Burn

Hi -- I am somebody whose resting heartrate is pretty high, and for whom even normal exercise seems to send to my heartrate skyrocketing. This has always been the case. I recently got a Timex HRM (the kind you wear on your wrist, not around the chest), and it is showing some crazy hjgh calorie burns (eg 500 calories for 30 minutes on the elliptical, 450 for 30 day shred, 700 for 1 hour bar method class). Am I really burning this many calories??

I do get that wrist heart rate monitors are not as accurate as chest ones. However, I do believe that it is accurately detecting my high heartrate. So I guess my question is, assuming a high heart rate while exercising, does that always necessarily mean you have a high calorie burn rate?

    The more your muscles work, the more calories you burn. Heart rate has an indirect coronation to this, not a direct one.

    I wish I had this problem. I am the opposite my resting heart rate is 38-42. The watch does give you total carlories which includes your BMR so you need to subtract that out when getting your exercise. Also the watches go by arm movement so the more you move your arms the higher the calorie burn.
