Does anyone follow the juicing life style? http://www.fatsickandnearlydead.com/
If so, have you maintained that lifestyle or was it too hard to stick with it? I’m just curious what the success rate is for people and if you found it to be a viable. What other healthy changes in your life did you make besides juicing? And if you quit juicing, did the weight come back or did your other life style changes keep the weight off?

it's typically only recommended for men past their mid 20's and wouldn't be particularly beneficial after a certain age/stopping lifting weights.0

That movie is not about juicing for life. Joe did a 60 day cleanse and then went back to adding regular foods, nuts, legumes, grains back into his diet. Is this really a sustainable lifestyle for you? I add fresh juice into my food intake, but juicing isn't a fix it all.0

Good luck with that..:laugh:0 -
No.

i thought juicce was bad for you because it is so high in sugar in one serving, less nutrients than when you eat the fruit and it wont keep you full. i rather eat my calories than drink it, beside the occasional protein shake0

The OP is referring to juicing veggies (and fruits) at home. Store-bought juice can be high in sugar, but this is not.
OP: I've done juicing and raw foods. Yes, the weight fell right off and came right back as soon as I stopped.0 -
you should watch the movie it's very informative! I juice veggies and some fruits once a day. Ilve lost 4 pounds so far and lowered my LDLs by 10 points.
the calorie intake depends on what your juice. if you do high water content fruits and veggies like watermelon and cucumbers the calories are low. if you do the mangoes and such, it'll be high. I recommend juice only high water content foods because otherwise you waste the food.
this is what I use: cabbage (dense with water) cucumbers, carrots (watch the sugar if you're diabetic) celery, oranges, lemons, apples.
if you want to add the kale and spinach and not waste it, (if you try to juice it it goes into the fiber basket) blend it in a food processor or blender then add it to your juice.
you don't have to buy a high priced juicer either. I got one from target for $74. the one's Joe Cross used the Brevelle, are in the hundreds or so...
you add a lot of vitamins to your diet which is good.0 -

Very informative. Oh Remind me never to pull your finger. :laugh:0 -
oh, and if you do it full on, like only juice... make sure you check with your internist/doctor. the only reason you would gain back the weight is if you don't make a life change in how you eat or think about food.
Joe made a permanent change in his food intake. only micros (fruits and veggies and nuts and whole grains). I still eat. just not fattening processed foods.0 -
I drink veggie juice to help me get in all of my veggie servings...it isn't a substitute for real food...just supplements my veggie intake. Drinking my veggie juices has no impact on my weight loss or maintenance other than the calories that are in it.0

I juice once a day, typically after my workout. I incorporate it into a healthy diet. Works for me thus far!0

Juicing I love it ! Do it everyday but not as a meal replacement . With weightloss it has helped but nothing like good ole eating clean and exercise0

Thanks Folks - I do know that Joe made other changes in his life like exercise and eating healthy foods when he started using his teeth again for something other than baleen. I have a friend at work that has gone the whole works on the juicing and she's dropping a pound a day or more. But she's not cleaning up her other foods yet so she gains a couple pounds back over night if she eats pizza or mac & cheese. She is only drinking at breakfast and dinner and the other day I think she had extreme low blood sugar becuase I thought she was going to explode with anger. She said it was detoxing but I reminded her that in the movie, Joe's pretty much drinking a big old glass of juice about every two hours. And she's not exercising well either. Just a little concerned and trying to find the gentle ways to tell her she really needs to make those other changes. Juicing is like any other fad diet - it doesn't work if you don't change all the poor habits that got a person to where they are. I bought a Magic Bullet type blender and we tend to have juice drinks for breakfast. I should try it for the hard core days post work out though as that is probably better than taking the vitamin pills. Thanks again!0
