I have a basic HRM (polar F1?) and it tells me my heart rate but I don't think it calculates my calories burned. Is there a formula for that?

Use a Polar funded study formula.
HRM tab, get your stats filled in.
Sections below help to get your VO2max, your HRmax, and you measure your resting HR.
Your personal calorie burn chart is at the bottom of the tab, input time and avgHR during the session.
This is what the more expensive Polar's would be using.
